Exalted Ruler's Message

JANUARY 2009

Well, here we are into 2010.  I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year and everyone survived the Holidays and is ready for the upcoming year and everything it will bring. I hope everyone enjoyed spending time with their family, because that's what the Holidays are all about.

On Sunday December 6th the Lodge Officers performed a great Memorial Service honoring our Departed Members. I want to thank Harry for stepping up and filling in as the Guest Speaker after our scheduled speaker failed to show. Thank you to all the officers that participated along with all the members and guests in attendance. And a special thank you to Co Chairpersons Ron Sheaffer and Vic Miller for pulling it all together. Kim did a great job feeding the many people that showed up. We had many more members and guests than we ever expected.

On December 15th we held another Initiation which brought 13 new members to our great Fraternity. Please join me and all the Officers in welcoming these new members. When you see them in the lounge, stop and say Hi and get to know them. I task everyone with making them feel at home and comfortable when they are in the Lounge.
Hope you made it to the Egg Nog Party and enjoyed the company of our many members who attended. It truly isn't Christmas without having some of Tom's famous Egg Nog.  Hopefully you introduced yourself to some of our newer members and made them feel at home while they attended their first Egg Nog Party.
Once again the Staff did a wonderful job on our New Years Eve party! I believe we once again had a bang up event and everyone had a great time ringing in the New Year. As always, DJ Russell did a great job entertaining all of us. We know how to party and ring in the New Year at the Carlisle Elks.

On January 10th we will be hosting our local Hoop Shoot at Carlisle High School. As always Chairperson Barry Guise is looking for volunteers to assist with this great event. This event takes numerous volunteers to pull off, so please sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board or show up on the 10th to help out.
January 24th will be the Workers Party! As always this will be held during the AFC & NFC Division Championship games. This is our way of showing you thanks for everything you do throughout the year to make this the greatest Lodge around. If you volunteered and haven't gotten your tickets please see your committee chair or me for a ticket. Doors will open 1 hour before the kickoff of the first game.

On Sunday February 7th will be the Super Bowl party. This is always a great time and a great place to watch the big game. Ticket includes buffet, draft beer and big screen TV. We only sell 125 tickets, so get yours early. Tickets will be $15 this year and you can't beat that price for everything you get. I will be able to relax and enjoy the game this year. And with the Fighting Irish ending their season early I don't have the pressure of watching a College Bowl Game. I will, however, be pulling for LSU in the Capitol One Bowl.
Don't forget we will be hosting the Elks Regional Soccer Shoot on March 13th. This is a busy weekend for us also. We have a pizza party for all the participants and their families on Friday night at the Hotel. On Saturday in addition to the Soccer Shoot we feed them breakfast and lunch. We then host the Awards banquet dinner on Saturday evening. This requires a tremendous amount of volunteers to pull off so please offer your help during this weekend.

Don't forget that we always have a lot of exciting events happening in the Lodge and Lounge; continue your support of these events. Come out and attend the Lodge meetings to show your support of the Officers you have chosen. Remember we are only as strong as our Officers and Members make us.

Fraternally,
